Deadline: 12-Sep-2025

The Disability Alliance BC (DABC) is inviting applications for its Accessibility Projects Grants, aiming to foster a more inclusive and equitable society for people with all disabilities. Through direct services, community partnerships, advocacy, research, and publications, DABC works to promote accessibility across British Columbia.

A total of $450,000 will be distributed to successful BC-based not-for-profit organizations, with each project eligible for up to $40,000. Projects must take place within the next calendar year, have significant activities in both reporting periods, and focus on community engagement rather than large capital costs. They should be self-contained or represent a clear and specific expansion or innovation within an existing initiative. The primary aim must be to promote accessibility for people with disabilities in BC, even if the project also engages intersectional communities.

Ineligible projects include those centered on large capital expenses such as building upgrades, research that does not lead directly to accessibility improvements, projects offering direct financial assistance to individuals outside of wages or participation-related expenses, and any initiative that has already received an Accessibility Projects Grant or was awarded one within the last five years.

Successful projects will deliver measurable outcomes that enhance accessibility and inclusion, advancing objectives such as accessible employment, emergency planning, arts and culture, sports and recreation, education, and community participation.

Eligible applicants must be BC-based not-for-profit organizations operating for community benefit with services open to the public. They do not need to be registered charities but must have a democratically elected volunteer board. National or international organizations may apply if they have a base of operations and service capacity in BC. Government bodies are not eligible, as they have other funding avenues. Applicants must also declare any real or perceived conflicts of interest with DABC, which will be reviewed but will not automatically disqualify them.
