Applications are open for Charity Impact Awards 2018 to celebrate the positive impact which community, voluntary and charitable organisations are making in people’s lives across the length and breadth of Ireland.

With a commitment to educate and inspire, the Awards will raise awareness of our sector’s positive impact and also promote best practice across the sector by telling the stories of those who have dedicated their lives to improving our communities.

The winners will be announced at the Charity Impact Awards Ceremony in Dublin on 11 December.

Award Categories

  1. Charity Impact Awards: This award celebrates the work of community and voluntary and charitable organisations, clubs or groups that have brought about positive change.
    • Sub Categories
      • Small Organisations (no paid staff): This category is open to all independently governed and constituted community, voluntary or charitable organisations with no paid staff.
      • Medium-sized Organisations (with paid staff and annual turnover of up to €1 million): All entries in this category must be registered with the Charities Regulator.
      • Large Organisations (with paid staff and annual turnover over €1 million): All entries in this category must be registered with the Charities Regulator.
  2. Trustee of the Year Award: This award aims to shine a light on voluntary trustees who have made an extraordinary contribution to an organisation. Any trustee (i.e. board member, committee member, etc) of an organisation’s board can be nominated.
  3. Social Enterprise of the year Award: This award recognises the impact of social enterprises. Social enterprises are social-mission focused organisations that engage in trading activity in a way to achieve their social mission, or to generate a contribution to the cost of delivering their mission.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Charity Impact Awards
    • An organisation can enter more than once; however, each entry must be a specific project or campaign, managed by that organisation i.e. each project can only be entered once
    • In this category, there are three sub-categories:
      • Small Organisations (no paid staff): This category is open to all independently governed and constituted community, voluntary or charitable organisations with no paid staff.
      • Medium-sized Organisations (with paid staff and annual turnover of up to €1 million): All entries in this category must be registered with the Charities Regulator
      • Large Organisations (with paid staff and annual turnover over €1 million): All entries in this category must be registered with the Charities Regulator
    • The entry must be accompanied by a short video (no longer than two minutes). The video should demonstrate the organisation’s impact, what the organisation does and why it should win this award. The video can be hosted on Youtube or Vimeo
    • Note: An Organisation can only enter this category or the Social Enterprise of the Year category, not both.
  2. Trustee of the Year Award
    • Any trustee [i.e. board member, committee member, etc] of an organisation’s board can be nominated.
  3. Social Enterprise of the Year
    • This award recognises the impact of social enterprises.
    • Social enterprises are social-mission focused organisations that engage in trading activity in a way to achieve their social mission, or to generate a contribution to the cost of delivering their mission.
    • Any trading income or surplus they generate is reinvested in the enterprise and not distributed to directors or shareholders.
    • Note: An Organisation can only enter this category or the Charity Impact Award category, not both.
