Applications are now open for the 2021 Social Impact Award (SIA) that works to create a community of young innovators who transform their ideas into action.
Social Impact Award works to create a community of young innovators who transform their ideas into action. They support them in the creation and development of social startups that solve the most complex problems of today. They play, experiment, dream and work hard. We do this by holding a series of events and seminars aimed at raising public awareness about social entrepreneurship, teaching the skills needed to turn ideas into promising business solutions, providing access to a network of like-minded people and experts, and supporting the best young teams financially.
It is an innovative activity aimed at solving social and environmental problems in a self-supporting and sustainable manner. Social Impact Award is an international program for the development and support of social entrepreneurship among young people from 18 to 30 years old.
Focus Areas
- Teaching: They support those who seek to create new social enterprises. 200 workshops and events held, 71 cities in 16 countries involved, 3000+ people attended educational activities of the project.
- Awareness: They promote social entrepreneurship as a potential career path. 4,000,000 people covered by information, 8,000 people took part in the activities, 800+ people took part in the
incubation. - Community: They involve entrepreneurs, colleagues and experts in the international community. 140+ participants attended the global SIA summit, 730 social enterprises launched by graduates, 1000+ partners joined the organization.
- Support: They provide the first mentoring and financial support. 220 social startups launched under the program, 58 most promising companies received funding, 2000+ hours of mentoring support provided.
Conditions
- Most of the founders of the project must be at least 30 years old or currently studying at university.
- Your project must be implemented in Ukraine.
- Your project must be at the idea stage or early development (up to 1.5 years).
- Your project has not yet received external financial support (investments, grants, sponsorship money, etc.) before.
- Your project has not participated in incubation programs before.
- Your project meets the criteria for selecting winners.
- You are ready to work on your project for two months in the incubation program, in case you reach the finals of the competition.
Selection Criteria
The Organizing Committee of the Social Impact Award Ukraine, experts and jury members will evaluate the applications according to four criteria:
- Social value (impact):
- Relevance of the chosen problem for the target audience.
- The value and significance of the project’s contribution to society as a whole.
- Innovation:
- Novelty and non-standard in the approach to solving the problem.
- Unlike existing solutions.
- Implementation:
- Realism of business model.
- Having the resources to implement, or understanding how to get them.
- Team:
- Experience and potential of project team members.
- Motivation of team members to implement the project.
