Call for Applications: Strengthening Community Fund in New Zealand

New Zealand: Albert-Eden Local Grant Programme 2025

Deadline: 31-Oct-2025

The Toi Foundation is inviting applications for its Strengthening Community Fund, an initiative designed to help build a thriving, inclusive, and equitable Taranaki.

The Foundation seeks to reduce economic and social disparities across the region by funding projects and initiatives that address the greatest areas of need.

Recognizing the vital role of community organizations, the Foundation provides grants that strengthen the social fabric of Taranaki by increasing access to opportunities and fostering collective wellbeing. Funding is available through several categories, each tailored to support different types of community needs. The Annual Grants help organizations manage everyday operational costs, while Capital Grants provide funding for purchasing or upgrading essential assets and equipment. The Programme and Event Grants assist in running community initiatives, events, or programs that have a meaningful local or regional impact. Additionally, Individual Grants support personal development and representation, helping individuals pursue opportunities in training, competitions, or cultural representation.

The Toi Foundation offers a flexible funding structure with amounts that vary based on the scope and purpose of the project. Annual Grants start from $500, while Capital and Programme or Event Grants may range from $30,000 for early childhood centers and schools to $60,000 for larger initiatives with community impact. Projects with significant regional importance may receive grants exceeding $60,000. For individuals, funding is available for both national and international representation, with grants of up to $1,500 for overseas events, $750 for New Zealand-based events, and $500 for training or development squads. Members of Taranaki iwi or tribal waka groups are also eligible for equivalent grants based on their level of participation and event location.

Eligible applicants include not-for-profit organizations such as incorporated societies, charitable trusts, schools, and structured community groups operating within Taranaki. Individuals who meet the specified criteria may also apply. The Foundation’s funding region extends from Mokau in the north to Tahora in the east and Nukumaru in the south.

Through this fund, the Toi Foundation continues to invest in initiatives that uplift people, protect the environment, and strengthen the shared identity of Taranaki. By supporting local organizations and individuals, it empowers communities to create lasting change and ensures that both people and place can thrive together for generations to come.
