Call for Entries: 19th SEARCA Photo Contest

GNI Sustainability Lab: Supporting Environmental Journalism in Brazil

Deadline: 30-Nov-2025

The 19th SEARCA Photo Contest invites Southeast Asian nationals to capture the unseen journeys that connect producers, markets, and communities through the theme “Beyond the Harvest: People and Processes in the Agriculture Value Chain.”

The 19th SEARCA Photo Contest, themed “Beyond the Harvest: People and Processes in the Agriculture Value Chain,” focuses on the often-overlooked stages of agriculture that happen after harvesting.

The contest highlights innovation, collaboration, and the human stories behind agriculture—from farmers and cooperatives to markets and consumers—showcasing how food creates prosperity beyond the farm.

It invites photographers to capture how food moves, transforms, and connects communities through activities like postharvest care, food processing, transportation, trade, and entrepreneurship.

The top three prizes include USD 1,000 for first place, USD 800 for second place, and USD 500 for third place, along with a certificate. The SEARCA Center Director’s Choice winner will also receive USD 500 and a certificate.

Open to all Southeast Asian nationals except SEARCA staff and their immediate families. Participants may submit unlimited entries in digital, colored JPEG format, with images at least 3,000 pixels wide or tall at 300 dpi.

Each entry must include the photographer’s details—name, age range, gender, country, professional status, caption, location, and date taken—and must be certified as original, unpublished, and unaltered except for cropping.

The evaluation process will include an initial screening, shortlisting by SEARCA staff and scholars, and final judging by external experts, with the SEARCA Center Director selecting one special entry. Winners will be informed via email, and prizes will be sent following SEARCA’s administrative and financial guidelines.

The contest accepts submissions until 30 November 2025, 11:59 p.m. (GMT+8).
