Deadline: 17-Oct-2025

The World Food Programme (WFP) has launched a new call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) to support climate-resilient livelihoods and strengthen food systems in Ethiopia.

The initiative aims to empower food-insecure populations in risk-prone areas such as Afar, Amara, Gambela Peoples, Tigrai, Somali, and Sidama by promoting self-reliance, financial inclusion, and sustainable agricultural practices.

This program focuses on building the capacity of vulnerable groups—including refugees, women, and young people—to adapt to the growing impacts of climate change. Through a combination of financial services, skills development, and climate adaptation interventions, the project seeks to improve household resilience and encourage the adoption of healthier, diversified diets. Participants will benefit from access to microfinance and revolving loan funds, extension services, and climate-smart technologies that strengthen livelihoods and reduce vulnerability to shocks and stressors.

In addition to supporting households, WFP aims to enhance opportunities for small-scale producers and other value chain actors. The program will improve market linkages, encourage value addition, and promote inclusive business models that ensure equitable participation for women and youth. This holistic approach will contribute to sustainable food production, processing, storage, and marketing, ensuring communities have access to diverse and nutritious foods.

The initiative also emphasizes collaboration between public and private partners to develop pro-smallholder supply chains and strengthen institutional frameworks for natural resource management. By fostering inclusive markets and supporting community-level action, WFP aims to create a food system that is more adaptive, equitable, and resilient to the challenges of climate change.

Through this call, WFP seeks partnerships with capable organizations committed to advancing livelihoods, food security, and climate adaptation for Ethiopia’s most at-risk communities.
