Call for Proposals: Youthtown Trust Grant Program (New Zealand)

Harare American Spaces Grant 2024 (Zimbabwe)

Deadline: 28-Oct-2025

Youthtown Trust offers grants to support not-for-profit organizations dedicated to youth development across New Zealand.

Eligible applicants include not-for-profit groups incorporated as charitable organizations or associations promoting charitable purposes. Additionally, incorporated regional and community not-for-profit groups in areas where Youthtown’s funds are generated are eligible. Amateur sports organizations that are incorporated regional or community not-for-profit groups affiliated with a recognized national body are also considered. Furthermore, incorporated national organizations can apply if they can demonstrate that regional and community benefits will result from the grant.

Youthtown funds projects that align with its Authorized Purpose, which encompasses the development and operation of Youthtown programs and facilities. Grants also support the encouragement and development of amateur youth sport and facilities in established and legally constituted sporting organizations. Additionally, funding is available for the encouragement and development of youth outdoor and cultural activities or programs, including art, music, and drama, within legally constituted community organizations. Financial support is provided to community-based organizations that offer direct or indirect benefits to youth groups. Lastly, Youthtown supports any charitable or non-commercial purpose beneficial to the community.

However, there are certain exclusions. Youthtown does not fund retrospective expenditure, meaning expenses incurred before the application is considered. Grants cannot be used for ventures where a Youthtown venue gains clear commercial benefit. Private, commercial, or political purposes are not eligible for funding. Projects that have already been funded by another source are excluded, as are multi-year grants. Fundraising activities or ventures, professional sports, non-affiliated or social sports clubs or teams, affiliation fees, memberships, subscriptions, prizes (cash or non-cash), food, meals, catering, and the horse-racing industry are also not funded.

For grants over $50,000, recipients may be required to provide evidence of the community benefit generated by the granted funds.

Approved applications are paid 7 to 10 days after the Grants Meeting. It’s essential to ensure that grant applications are for costs that occur after the Grants Meeting date, as retrospective applications will not be considered. Youthtown’s policy is to return funds to the communities where they have been generated, reinforcing its commitment to supporting local initiatives.
