Deadline: 31-Dec-2025
The Veterans’ Foundation (VF) has launched its Small Grants Programme to support grassroots organisations working with the Armed Forces community.
Designed with simpler eligibility, application, and monitoring requirements than other funding streams, this initiative aims to reach smaller, harder-to-reach groups that may not have previously received VF funding. Examples include breakfast clubs, drop-in centres, and organisations supporting underrepresented groups.
Grants range from £500 to £5,000 and must be used within 12 months of award. The programme promises a swift turnaround, with applicants advised of outcomes within eight weeks of submission.
Eligibility is open to registered charities and not-for-profit organisations that provide services for Armed Forces beneficiaries. However, groups with an annual income above £100,000, statutory bodies such as local authorities, NHS or educational institutions, CICs with shares or significant control structures, PLCs, and individuals are not eligible to apply.
The scope of supported activities is broad and covers key issues such as homelessness, employability, financial disadvantage, disability, welfare, mental health, family support, and assistance for older veterans. Applications are welcome from organisations that do not exclusively serve the Armed Forces community, but applicants must clearly demonstrate how their services are tailored to the unique needs of Armed Forces beneficiaries and why their organisation is well placed to deliver the project.
The Veterans’ Foundation particularly encourages applications from underrepresented groups, including people with additional support needs, ethnic minority communities, LGBT+ groups, and women’s organisations. By investing in small, community-driven projects, VF seeks to ensure that support reaches those who need it most, while strengthening local networks that make a meaningful difference in the lives of veterans and their families.
