Deadline: 16-Sep-2025
The City of Clarence is offering Cultural and Creative Grants to support its vision of being a gateway to Tasmania’s culture. These grants aim to activate arts and cultural engagement across the community through programs, events, and activities.
Funding is available under two tiers: Level 1 provides up to $5,000, and Level 2 offers between $5,000 and $10,000 (excluding GST). Projects must align with the Cultural Creative Strategy 2022–2032.
Eligible activities include events, workshops, or projects that expand public access to cultural and creative experiences. The grants support hiring local artists, musicians, and cultural practitioners. Skill development, cultural placemaking, and public space improvements are also encouraged.
However, funding will not support infrastructure, activities already funded by the Council, or those that are primarily commercial. Administrative costs, prize money, previously started projects, and events duplicating Council programs are also ineligible. Fundraising and individual professional development without public outcomes do not qualify either.
Applicants must be community or resident groups, incorporated or not-for-profit associations, charities, auspice bodies, or self-employed creatives. Applications must be submitted by an authorized person with all documentation within the grant period. Only one application per round is allowed, and the project must benefit the Clarence municipality.
Applicants must have no outstanding obligations to the Council and possess appropriate insurance and safety measures. If the activity involves youth under 18, it must align with the Child and Youth Safe Framework. Projects at Rosny Farm require prior consultation with the City Culture team.
Applicants under 18, government agencies, political entities, and organizations with gaming machines are not eligible. Council employees and councillors involved must declare their association, and eligibility will be assessed to avoid conflicts.
