Deadline: 08-Sep-2025
The City of Greater Geelong is accepting applications for its Climate Change Partnership Grants, designed to help the community lead in adapting to a changing climate. These grants use a co-design approach, partnering with community groups and businesses to create meaningful local action. They encourage both bold new ideas and the expansion of proven initiatives.
The program aims to increase greening across Greater Geelong, build community awareness of climate impacts, boost energy efficiency, and support renewable energy generation. It also focuses on achieving net zero emissions by 2035, encouraging sustainable transport, increasing natural carbon storage, and strengthening local collaboration for long-term impact. This year’s priority is on tree planting, creating biodiverse landscapes, and expanding green spaces to make neighbourhoods healthier and more resilient.
Applicants can request up to $50,000 from a total funding pool of $180,000. Projects must be within the municipality and may include tree planting programs, climate awareness and education, renewable energy bulk-buy programs, initiatives to transition to electric homes and businesses, and energy efficiency upgrades for vulnerable communities.
Eligible expenses include venue hire, contractor or consultant fees, and equipment costs. The grants are open to incorporated not-for-profits, unincorporated groups with an auspice, registered charities, schools partnered with another school or not-for-profit, and businesses. Individuals, sole traders, and applicants with unresolved grant acquittals, non-compliance, insolvency issues, or debts to the City are not eligible.
