Deadline: 28-Oct-2025
Applications are now open for Community Emergency Preparedness Grant (CEPG) to strengthen community resilience and ensure that Ontarians are better prepared to face emergencies.
The program is designed to help small municipalities, Indigenous communities, and other eligible organizations enhance their readiness before, during, and after crises by supporting the purchase of critical emergency supplies, equipment, and services.
Funding ranges from $5,000 to $50,000 per approved project and may cover items such as chain saws, generators, and sandbag machines, as well as services like emergency training, exercise planning, coordination, and education initiatives. To qualify, applicants must clearly demonstrate how their proposed activities will increase preparedness and resilience in their community, and they must commit to completing all activities by the program’s end date of August 31, 2026. Any unspent funds will be returned to the Ontario government.
Eligibility for Round 3 of the program (2025 to 2026) is limited to municipalities with populations under 100,000, local services boards under the Northern Services Boards Act, Indigenous communities and organizations including Tribal Councils, and non-municipal fire departments or entities providing fire protection services in unincorporated areas of Ontario. Municipalities with populations over 100,000, Crown corporations, federal, provincial and municipal agencies, universities, colleges, schools, hospitals, and organizations without a clear emergency preparedness mandate are not eligible. Direct applications from municipal fire departments or police services will not be accepted, although they may apply through an eligible municipality.
This grant builds on Ontario’s ongoing commitment to improving emergency readiness in communities across the province. By funding essential equipment and training, the program empowers local organizations to take proactive steps that will safeguard residents and mitigate risks when emergencies occur.
