Deadline: 15-Oct-2025

The Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta is now accepting applications for its Community Priorities Grants Program, the organization’s largest annual granting initiative.

The Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta is now accepting applications for its Community Priorities Grants Program, the organization’s largest annual granting initiative. This program awards over $500,000 each year to support projects that create meaningful, local impact across Southwestern Alberta.

The funding for this program comes from generous donors throughout the region who have contributed unrestricted gifts to the Foundation. These donors entrust the Community Priorities Grants Committee and the Board of Directors with the responsibility of allocating the funds to projects that best meet the evolving needs of their communities.

Applications are thoroughly reviewed by the Community Priorities Committee, a group made up of Foundation directors and community volunteers from across the region. This committee evaluates each submission based on several key factors, including the level of community support, how well the project addresses emerging needs, its potential impact, and its focus on equity within the community.

Only federally registered charities or qualified done with a valid business number are eligible to apply for funding. Applicants must ensure that their proposed projects fall within the scope of eligibility and align with the Foundation’s goals for community development and support.

The program does not fund requests exceeding $15,000 or projects focused on core operational costs, advertising, fundraising, or travel expenses. Additionally, projects must directly benefit residents of Southwestern Alberta and cannot serve the specific interests of political or religious organizations.

Organizations that have received a Community Priorities Grant in the previous year are not eligible to apply again unless their previous grant was part of a collaborative project with a non-registered group. With a strong emphasis on supporting impactful, community-driven initiatives, this grant program continues to serve as a vital resource for local organizations striving to make a difference.
