Entries open for Læsø AiR Residency Program

Solidarity Fund for Artists and Cultural Organizations in Africa

Deadline: 29-Oct-2025

The Læsø Art and Culture Foundation is offering professional visual artists an opportunity to immerse themselves in the Læsø AiR Residency Program, dedicated to supporting and promoting the development, awareness, and dissemination of Læsø’s rich artistic and cultural heritage.

You receive a monthly allowance of €1400 to cover living expenses, local transport, and the cost of materials and production. Professional international and Nordic visual artists may apply for residency.

Eligible applicants must have completed a relevant artistic educational program or have documented experience within professional artistic contexts. Applicants must be citizens of or living in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, or the Faroe Islands.

To foster exchanges between Nordic and foreign artists, Læsø AiR will, due to spatial conditions, primarily accept applications from individual artists. The residency language is English, and participants are expected to deliver an artist talk and engage in collaborative activities conducted in English.

In 2026, professional international artists can apply for a 12-week stay at Læsø AiR, while professional Nordic artists can apply for a 6-week or 4-week stay.  Residencies for international artists will take place from March 29 to June 21, 2026, and from August 16 to November 8, 2026, both at Haabet.

Nordic artist residencies are available from March 29 to May 10, May 11 to June 21, and August 16 to September 27, 2026, at Haabet, as well as from June 1 to June 30 at Bangsbohave, and from September 28 to November 8, 2026, again at Haabet.

Applications will be evaluated based on documentation of experience within professional contexts, documentation of former collaborative projects and references, an ambitious plan for attaining high artistic quality, and evidence of mutual relevance between the proposed plan and the residency program’s framework.

One of the program’s main aims is to build new relations between resident artists and the cultural history, community, and people of Læsø, as well as among fellow residents. The jury will assess the artist’s motivation, proposed themes, and potential connections to local entities.

Applications must be submitted electronically via the online application form. Required attachments include a concise resume (max. 2 MB) with professional experience, educational background, and referee details, along with documentation of earlier work within a professional context (max. 8 MB). No other materials will be accepted. Applicants will be notified of the jury’s decision within eight weeks after the deadline.

The application deadline is October 29, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. GMT+2/UTC+2.
