Deadline: 12-Dec-2025

The Queensland Gives (QG) by Queensland Community Foundation (QCF) is a perpetual charitable trust designed to provide sustainable funding for a range of charitable purposes within Queensland.

The Public Trustee of Queensland serves as the Trustee, holding full responsibility for decision-making across all Queensland Gives sub-funds, including the Gulf Area Community Social Development Trust. Under the terms of the trust deed, grants cannot be issued from capital funds; instead, only income or available capital gains may be used to support eligible projects. Funding is restricted to entities that have been granted Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status by the Australian Taxation Office.

Grants of up to $30,000 are available to eligible organisations. The Department of Treaty, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Communities and the Arts supports the Trust’s administration on behalf of the Queensland Government, ensuring smooth coordination and oversight. Applications for grants are carefully assessed by the Local Stakeholder Reference Group, which reviews each proposal on its merits and makes recommendations to Queensland Gives. The Public Trustee, as the Trustee of Queensland Gives, holds final authority over all funding decisions. These guidelines are provided to assist organisations seeking to apply for grants that enhance facilities or services benefiting communities within the Gulf region.

The Trust aims to support initiatives that address key community needs and promote local development. Its objectives include projects arising from social impact assessments linked to regional resource development, community and social development programs, and personal development initiatives. It also supports educational opportunities for residents through bursaries or scholarships for secondary and tertiary studies, provided no other scholarship has been awarded for the same period. Additionally, the Trust funds small-scale infrastructure projects that address identified social challenges and initiatives that improve the health and well-being of Gulf residents.

To qualify, applicants must hold Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR 1) status as endorsed by the Australian Tax Office. Organisations without DGR status are encouraged to partner with an eligible organisation that can manage and acquit the funds on their behalf. Applicants must demonstrate sound governance, financial management capacity, and the ability to deliver and monitor their proposed projects effectively. They must also ensure that their project is self-contained and not dependent on additional future funding from the Trust. Only organisations that meet all eligibility requirements and adhere to the outlined criteria will be considered for support under this program.
