The National Youth Network on SDG’s under the Civil Society Scaling up Nutrition Alliance is now accepting applications for youth advocates. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic group of young people who are passionate about finding sustainable solutions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).
It is an initiative by Civil Society Scaling up Nutrition Alliance, aimed at empowering youth advocates from all over Zambia to come up with multi-sectorial sustainable solutions designed with significant youth input to address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with particular focus on SDG2.
Zambia CSO-SUN Alliance is a movement of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working to raise the profile of nutrition on the national development agenda. They are a part of the Global Scaling up Nutrition (SUN) movement founded on the principle that all people have the right to food and good nutrition.
Moreover, The National Youth Network on SDGs will be constituted for a period of one year, from September 2020 – 2021. Members of the network will be expected to make a one-year commitment, with the possibility of renewal.
Focus Areas
NYNSDGs will be mainly focused on:
- Facilitating consultations with other youth in the youth advocate’s community;
- Providing strategic advice on the priorities of young people in areas that affect them with respect to the SDGs;
- Creating a platform for voices of young people in the advocacy messages and activities aimed at finding sustainable solutions for the SDGs.
- Mobilizing young people and governments to make pledges in support of the attainment of the SDGs and holding them accountable to their commitments.
Eligibility Criteria
The National Youth Network on SDG’s shall be composed of volunteers between the ages of 15-29 who are representatives of different communities with demonstrated expertise and experience of working on and advocating for young people. Such individuals should have demonstrated leadership and activism and should be able to consult with and reach out to a larger constituency.
The National Youth Network seeks to connect with individuals with the following qualities:
- be between 15 and 29 years old;
- have access to the internet;
- Committed to volunteer for the National Youth Network for a period of 12 months.
- be proficient in both spoken and written English and another local language.
- Demonstrate passion and experience in advocating for any of these focus areas; Nutrition, climate change, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, Water and Sanitation Health, HIV/AIDS, gender equality, agriculture, youth employment and equal pay in their respective communities and;
- Demonstrate a connection to the wider network(s) and the ability to consult with and represent views of other young people.
