Open Call for Strengthening Rural Communities Prepare and Recover Program (Australia)

Apply now for Community Project Grant (Australia)

Deadline: 04-Dec-2025

The Strengthening Rural Communities inviting applications to Prepare and Recover program, designed to support remote, rural, and regional communities in Australia to better prepare for, respond to, and recover from climate-related disasters.

The program focuses on assisting communities to prevent and prepare for, respond to, or recover from disasters, weather events, or climate impacts. It supports projects that demonstrate broad community benefit, are locally determined, promote collaboration, and build future capacity. Eligible projects can also help build networks or resources to share information, increase climate-related knowledge, and foster social connection. Other key focuses include building back better infrastructure post-disaster while considering climate risks, recognising First Nations knowledge and cultural practices, and supporting initiatives that lack access to other funding sources.

Priority will be given to projects that address specific climate impacts or events, build resilience through community-led recovery or preparedness, and come from organisations without DGR status. The fund also aims to support remote and less-resourced areas, First Nations-led initiatives, generational transitions, and efforts toward a just and equitable energy transition.

Grants of up to $25,000 are available. Eligible applicants must be Australian not-for-profit organisations with an ABN or Incorporation Certificate. Projects must deliver a charitable purpose and benefit remote, rural, or regional communities. Only one application may be submitted under either the Small & Vital or Prepare & Recover stream per grant round.
