The misto.cafe grant programme in Lutsk offers a unique opportunity for active citizens and non-profit organizations to turn their urban-improvement ideas into action.
Funded through an innovative social entrepreneurship model—where 80% of the café’s net profit is allocated to community development—this initiative empowers residents to design and implement projects that make Lutsk a more welcoming, inclusive, and sustainable city.
Now entering its second season, the programme continues to invite proposals from individuals, community groups, and organizations whose initiatives can enhance local life in meaningful ways. Projects may focus on ecology, culture, accessibility, social inclusion, or community cohesion—anything that strengthens the city’s social fabric and improves daily life for its residents. Each proposal must clearly define the problem it addresses, outline expected outcomes, identify beneficiaries, and demonstrate how the project can continue to have an impact beyond the initial grant.
Any non-profit organization operating within the Lutsk city area is eligible to apply for funding. For small groups or informal teams without official registration, participation is still possible by partnering with a registered non-profit organization that can act as a fiscal sponsor if the project is selected for support. This flexibility allows grassroots initiatives and emerging leaders to participate equally in shaping Lutsk’s community development.
Grants are available in amounts ranging from a minimum of 30,000 UAH to a maximum of 100,000 UAH, providing sufficient financial support to help both small-scale and larger community projects come to life. Previous recipients have included diverse initiatives such as youth engagement programmes, environmental clean-up campaigns, wellness activities for veterans and families, and cultural projects that bring people together across different parts of the city.
The misto.cafe grant process is built on transparency and participation. Applications are reviewed in stages—beginning with submission and technical assessment, followed by pitching and community voting—reflecting the café’s commitment to collaborative decision-making and local ownership. By combining financial backing with a strong spirit of civic engagement, misto.cafe continues to demonstrate how small, locally driven actions can create lasting positive change in Lutsk.
