Port Coquitlam Community Foundation announces Capacity Building Grant (Canada)

US: Capacity Building Grant for Small Nonprofits ($20,000 Unrestricted Grant)

Deadline: 02-Oct-2025

The Capacity Building Grant is a part of the Community Cultural Development (CCD) Investment Program which supports qualifying individuals, groups and organizations that offer high-quality arts and heritage initiatives for Port Coquitlam residents.

An inspiring chance has emerged for non-profit arts, culture, and heritage organizations rooted in Port Coquitlam. The Capacity Building Grant invites incorporated non-profit societies to apply for funding of up to CAD 5,000. This support is meant to enhance organizational strength, whether in strategic planning, fundraising, marketing, governance, or board development.

The grant prioritizes organizations that have existed for at least one year and are committed to serving the Port Coquitlam community. While locally based groups take precedence, those serving the region at large may still be considered, provided their work benefits Port Coquitlam residents and avoids duplicating existing services.

Recipients of this grant are expected to commit to ethical engagement, particularly when working with public audiences. Ensuring safety, promoting inclusion—especially for Indigenous or youth communities—and maintaining high standards in conduct are all part of the expectations. Once awarded, organizations must submit financial statements and a final report that also acknowledges the support of both the Port Coquitlam Community Foundation and the City’s Community Fund in their promotional materials.

This grant offers a valuable opportunity for cultural organizations to strengthen their foundations. Through practical support tailored to internal development needs, it opens pathways for long-term resilience and more impactful community programming.
