Deadline: 23-Sep-2025

The World Food Programme (WFP) has launched an initiative to promote green technology and alternative energy-based adaptation measures across select regions of Kyrgyzstan, focusing on Naryn, Batken, and Osh oblasts.

This program aims to enhance community resilience, reduce household energy costs, and foster sustainable natural resource management while empowering local communities through training and capacity-building initiatives.

As part of this effort, WFP will deliver comprehensive training programs that combine both online and offline learning formats to reach a broad audience. The online training component will provide educational content on alternative energy solutions and energy efficiency, to be developed by November 2025 and shared with Area Offices, vocational schools, and other identified partners. The goal is to engage around 5,000 participants in this digital training platform, equipping them with practical knowledge and skills to adopt energy-efficient practices within their households and communities.

Complementing this, WFP will implement community-based offline training sessions to reach another 4,080 participants. These on-the-ground workshops are designed to foster hands-on learning and local collaboration, encouraging the uptake of sustainable practices and climate adaptation measures tailored to regional needs. Both the online and offline training tracks are expected to contribute to measurable outcomes, including an increase in the number of households adopting at least one energy-efficient practice, a reduction in average household energy expenditure, and a boost in the number of people benefiting from assets and climate adaptation practices facilitated through WFP’s risk management activities.

Through this program, WFP seeks to build local capacity, enhance energy resilience, and support long-term environmental sustainability in vulnerable communities, ensuring that more households can transition toward greener, cost-effective energy solutions.
