Request for EOIs: Socio-Economic Empowerment in Centre Region (Burkina Faso)

Deadline: 15-Sep-2025

The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking partners for a targeted initiative in the Centre region of Burkina Faso, focusing on nutrition in emergencies while addressing the socio-economic vulnerabilities of youth affected by HIV.

This program aims to empower unemployed young people through a combination of capacity-building, social inclusion, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The project’s expected results center on supporting ten unemployed young individuals living with HIV, identified through local associations, with a clear commitment to gender equality. These youth will receive entrepreneurial and technical training to strengthen their skills and prepare them for viable income-generating activities. The initiative also encourages collaboration with local actors, creating synergies that enhance the program’s effectiveness and sustainability.

Beyond individual empowerment, the project seeks to promote social innovation and economic inclusion. It will ensure that youth not only receive support but are also connected to networks and systems that can sustain their progress. Previous successful projects will be reviewed and leveraged to ensure best practices are applied and expanded upon.

To participate in this initiative, organizations must meet specific selection criteria. They must be officially recognized in Burkina Faso and compliant with both tax and social obligations. Recognition by health authorities, particularly for work related to HIV, is essential. Applicants must demonstrate a proven track record in supporting people living with HIV, particularly in complex humanitarian settings, and show evidence of being active in the Centre region before applying.

The relevance and quality of the proposed approach will be closely evaluated. Proposals should outline a clear and practical methodology, coordination strategies with local authorities, a realistic timeline, and clearly defined roles for stakeholders. Reporting mechanisms—both technical and financial—must be clearly described to ensure transparency and accountability to WFP.

Through this call for collaboration, WFP aims to strengthen nutrition-focused humanitarian responses while fostering long-term economic empowerment for one of the most vulnerable groups in Burkina Faso.
