RFPs: Taupo/Taupo East Rural Community Grant Program in New Zealand

Cause We Care Foundation Community Grants (Canada)

Deadline: 25-Jul-2025

The Taupo District Council is currently inviting applications for the Taupō/Taupō East Rural Community Grant. This grant supports individuals and organisations based in the Taupō and Taupō East Rural wards. It is managed by the Taupō/Taupō East Rural Grant Distribution Committee.

Applicants must demonstrate how their project, event, or initiative contributes to one or more of the Council’s community outcomes. Projects should show respect for the people of the land, particularly by meeting the needs and aspirations of hapū and iwi, promoting Māori heritage, celebrating Māori identity, or enhancing understanding of Māori culture and language.

The grant also supports initiatives that create vibrant, connected communities. These can include celebrating local history and culture, supporting the arts, Ngā toi, and sports, or encouraging shared experiences among community members.

Projects that help communities work together and build resilience are also eligible. This includes improving the capacity of whānau and communities to support themselves, creating safe and supportive spaces for vulnerable people, fostering collaboration, and boosting social and economic resilience.

The grant welcomes ideas that contribute to a thriving local economy, enhance the district’s image, and improve the appeal of public spaces. Environmental initiatives that improve the natural environment, promote sustainability, or encourage recycling, reuse, and waste reduction are also encouraged.

Eligible costs include materials and supplies, equipment and uniforms retained by clubs or organisations, advertising, venue or equipment hire, rent, salaries, travel, accommodation, operational costs, and maintenance.

Ineligible costs include capital improvements to facilities not owned by the applicant, catering, insurance, subscriptions, political, commercial or religious projects, fundraising redistribution, debt repayment, legal or medical expenses, government public services, alcohol, prize money, and uniforms kept by individuals.

Eligibility depends on the type of fund. For the Strategic Partnership and Accelerator Funds, applicants must be not-for-profit, charitable organisations benefiting the local community. For Community Grant Funds, individuals may also apply if their projects contribute to community outcomes. Previous grant recipients must have met all prior obligations to be considered for new funding.
