Submissions Open: Basita Fellowship for Artists (Third Cohort)

Apply for Immuno-Informatics Postdoctoral Fellowship

Deadline: 10-Oct-2025

Applications are now open for the third cohort of the Basita Fellowship, a nine-month programme designed to support 25 performing arts groups from the MENA region, including Sudan. The fellowship is open to artists across disciplines such as music, theatre, dance, and spoken word. It focuses on building technical, managerial, marketing, and digital skills to help these groups grow their careers, achieve financial sustainability, and adapt to the digital landscape.

The Basita Fellowship will conclude with the BAB ElBAHR Hybrid Festival. As part of this event, performances by the selected groups will be produced and presented both live in theatres and virtually on Basita.live, allowing audiences from multiple countries to participate.

The structure of the programme includes six months of mentorship led by established artists and cultural professionals from the region. It begins with a virtual kick-off seminar that covers strategic planning, digital marketing, institutional resilience, and fundraising. Participants will then receive one-on-one mentorship, combining face-to-face and virtual sessions, for 4–6 hours monthly, alongside 10 hours of individual work.

The programme also includes monthly group activities such as Case Clinics to tackle common challenges, and virtual check-ins where participants share updates and learn from one another. It wraps up with a closing seminar in Egypt, during which fellows present their strategic plans and evaluate their progress at the Bab Elbahr Festival.

Each selected group will also produce one performance, possibly in partnership with a host institution in their home country. This performance will be showcased live and broadcast online as part of the hybrid festival.

Eligible applicants must be performing arts groups or artists with a proven track record from the MENA region, including Sudan, working in music, theatre, dance, or spoken word.
