Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is inviting applications for its Community Grants Scheme, a vital support initiative aimed at enriching community life through funding local projects and events.

The scheme is part of the Council’s broader mission to deliver quality community, recreational, sporting, and cultural opportunities for all who live, work, and visit the county.

Grants are only payable after full compliance with terms and conditions, including the submission of receipts, reports, and acknowledgment of Council support in promotional materials. Funding is subject to availability, and the Council reserves the right to make adjustments to the scheme to better serve community needs and its own strategic priorities.

The Feasibility Study Grant offers up to €5,000 or 80% of costs for Disadvantaged Areas (DA), and €5,000 or 70% for Non-Disadvantaged Areas (Non DA). The Upgrading Facilities Grant provides the same funding limits: €5,000 or 80% (DA) and €5,000 or 70% (Non DA).

The Community Activities Grant supports events with up to €1,000 or 80% (DA) and €1,000 or 70% (Non DA), while the Summer Projects Grant offers €800 for 1 week, €1,600 for 2 weeks, and €2,400 for 3 weeks, equally for both DA and Non DA.

The Start-Up Grant provides a maximum of €800 for new community groups. The Running Costs Grant allows for €1,200 or 80% (DA) and €1,200 or 70% (Non DA). The Training for Community Development Grant funds up to €1,000 or 80% (DA) and €1,000 or 70% (Non DA). The Community Development Initiatives Grant offers €3,000 or 80% (DA) and €3,000 or 70% (Non DA). The Equipment Major Grant provides €4,000 or 80% (DA) and €3,000 or 70% (Non DA), while the Equipment Minor Grant supports up to €1,500 or 80% (DA) and €1,500 or 70% (Non DA).

Lastly, the Age Friendly Grant offers funding (amount unspecified) for groups supporting older people in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.

Eligible applicants include locally-based not-for-profit groups and organisations that demonstrate transparency, inclusivity, and a commitment to good governance. Registration with the Public Participation Network (PPN) is a requirement, or at least proof that registration is in process. A wide range of documentation is required when submitting an application, including insurance details, governance documents, tax clearance (if applicable), and relevant cost quotations..

Community Development Grants provide further targeted support for new and existing groups, including start-up costs, ongoing operational expenses, training opportunities, and initiatives focused on social inclusion, equality, and digital access. Equipment grants, both major and minor, help fund the purchase or replacement of key items, with a preference for projects that demonstrate environmental responsibility.

The DLR Community Grants Scheme represents a meaningful investment in grassroots initiatives that strengthen community ties, promote equality, and make Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown a vibrant and inclusive place to live. Applications are now open, offering groups across the county a valuable opportunity to turn their ideas into impactful community projects
