The ImpactWX Genesis Grant provides small grants to individuals and community organizations focused on developing innovative ideas related to severe weather response and awareness.
The focus of the program is to support initiatives that can improve people’s response and safety during severe weather events, promote innovation, creativity, and opportunities, and align with ImpactWX’s core mission of enabling organizations that, through scientific understanding and public awareness, enhance safety during severe weather events.
ImpactWX, a Toronto-based social impact fund, is dedicated to empowering organizations that advance understanding and preparedness for severe weather. Through the Genesis Grant, the fund supports new, community-oriented projects that can make a tangible difference in response strategies and public safety. The grant awards $25,000 to selected projects, with each initiative expected to be completed within 12 months of receiving the grant.
Funding can be used to cover a variety of costs including operational and staff expenses directly related to project delivery, research and development, planning, public consultation, community outreach, capital expenditures, programming and event costs, honorariums for key contributors, and website development or online activities.
Eligible applicants include individuals, groups, and collaborators such as community organizations, researchers, artists, collectives, non-profits, public sector agencies, and registered charities. Applicants that are not registered charities must include a Canadian charitable trustee to administer funds, although the trustee does not need to serve as a programming partner. Private for-profit businesses are not eligible as sole applicants but may participate as project partners.
