Deadline: 30-Sep-2025
The Kirkland Lake & Area Fund is an endowed fund created to support projects and organizations that benefit Kirkland Lake and the surrounding communities within North Timiskaming.
Applications to the Kirkland Lake & Area Fund are reviewed by a voluntary Advisory Committee composed of representatives from Kirkland Lake and nearby communities, chaired by a member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Grants are awarded up to $3,000 per project, with some funds offering up to $5,000 depending on eligibility.
Funding is open to registered charities, non-profit organizations, municipalities, First Nations, and other qualifying agencies. Grants may support a wide range of needs, from program and project funding to material purchases. Applications from businesses or individuals, however, cannot be accepted.
Eligibility is based on specific requirements. Applicants must either be a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency or a non-profit, municipal government, First Nation, or government agency delivering projects aligned with the Foundation’s charitable purposes. These purposes include work in social services, arts and culture, education, medical services, physical fitness, amateur sports, and other community-based charitable activities. Eligible projects must serve residents of Kirkland Lake, Larder Lake, Kenogami, Swastika, Virginiatown, and surrounding townships across the District of Timiskaming. In addition, applicants must have submitted final evaluation forms for any previous grants received.
