T-Mobile has introduced the Hometown Grants Program to support small towns across America by funding projects that help local communities grow and thrive. The program is focused on backing people and organizations that create meaningful, lasting impact in towns with populations under 50,000.
Grants of up to $50,000 are available for shovel-ready projects. These may include technology upgrades, outdoor improvements, arts initiatives, and the development or enhancement of community spaces that foster local connection.
Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) nonprofit organizations and local government entities. For-profit businesses are not eligible. Applications must include a detailed proposal with plans, a timeline, a budget, anticipated impact, and up to five letters of support. Local leaders—such as elected officials, town managers, tribal leaders, or nonprofit representatives—can apply on behalf of their towns.
Eligible expenses include construction materials, equipment, labor costs for installation or rehabilitation, artist fees, supplies for community art projects, and furniture for community use. Public events and space activation programs are allowed but must not exceed 10% or $5,000 of the grant amount.
The grant does not cover costs for engineering or architectural plans, staff salaries outside initial project labor, ongoing operational or maintenance expenses, completed projects, or funding passed through to private entities.
