The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program 2026 – 2027 (Lebanon)

Call for Proposals: Training for Oman - MENA Scholarship Programme (Netherlands)

Deadline: 01-Dec-2025

The U.S. Embassy in Lebanon is inviting applications for the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program, designed to enhance mutual understanding between the people of the United States and those of other countries. This initiative offers scholars an educational exchange opportunity that benefits not only the individual but also their home institution and U.S. host university.

Fulbright Scholars act as cultural ambassadors and are encouraged to share insights about their country, culture, and academic work with both academic and public audiences in the United States. The program is part of the U.S. Government’s flagship international educational exchange and annually awards approximately 900 grants to faculty and professionals from around the world for research and university lecturing in the U.S.

Lebanese scholars can pursue affiliations with U.S. higher education institutions for a duration of 3 to 10 months. The 2026–2027 cycle of the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program will begin in August or September 2026, based on the U.S. institution’s academic calendar.

Participation in the Fulbright Program enables scholars to build professional networks, collaborate with U.S. colleagues, and enhance their research and publications. It also offers a unique opportunity to explore new academic environments and broaden scholarly and cultural perspectives.

Eligible applicants must hold a Lebanese passport or a Special Travel Document for Palestinian Refugees. U.S. citizens, dual nationals, or permanent residents are ineligible. Applicants must also hold a doctoral degree or equivalent professional experience and be currently teaching at an accredited Lebanese institution.

English proficiency is required for the proposed teaching or research activities, and selected candidates must submit a medical examination report before the grant is finalized. Preference is given to applicants without recent U.S. experience and those who can demonstrate cultural adaptability and a commitment to fostering cross-cultural understanding.

To apply, candidates must submit a curriculum vitae, a detailed project statement outlining their proposed U.S.-based activities, three letters of recommendation, and a copy of the biodata page of their Lebanese passport or travel document. While not mandatory, a letter of invitation or support from a U.S. university is highly recommended.
