As part of the Decentralization and Territorialization of the SDGs pilot project, UNCDF and UNDP, in partnership with the ministry in charge of decentralization, seek to establish a partnership with one or more financial institutions (bank or microfinance institution) having a good coverage of the national territory.
The said partnership aims to structure and set up a financial facility dedicated to the financing of productive investments, falling within the priorities of the municipalities, carried by SMEs or PPPs involving local communities and whose implementation will impact the economic empowerment of women and young people.
The structuring of the facility will be based on a prior and joint assessment of the needs and supply of financing for projects contributing to the economic empowerment of women and youth. The projects to be financed, which could benefit from upstream technical assistance, will be selected on the basis of precise criteria agreed in advance.
The UNDP (United Nations Development Program) supports countries in their efforts to effectively meet various development challenges, articulated around three major contexts which call for different forms of support:
- Elimination of poverty in all its forms and dimensions;
- Acceleration of structural transformations for sustainable development; and
- Strengthening resilience to crises and shocks.
Considering that many of the global development challenges can be overcome through dynamic economic growth, driven by private enterprises that create jobs, generate tax revenues and provide vital goods and services for the benefit of the poor in the globally, UNDP is working with the private sector to harness the transformative power to benefit disadvantaged populations.
Criteria
- All applications must be submitted in writing in French in accordance with the format.
- Applicants should use the template provided in the appendices with a one (1) page cover letter.
- The application will be submitted by electronic file in Word format, with a 12 point Times New Roman typeface and a 2.5 cm margin on each side.
