Township of Champlain’s Special Event Grant (Canada)

Funding Opportunity: Strengthening Health, Education & Women’s Rights

Deadline: 15-Sep-2025

The Township of Champlain is offering support to local organizations through the Special Event Grant program, designed to strengthen community life by funding both new and existing events.

This grant is intended to promote a healthy and vibrant community by enhancing cultural, recreational, and tourism opportunities, while also contributing to the local economy. Events funded through this program must be open and accessible to all residents, ensuring inclusivity and broad community participation.

To be eligible, applicants must be not-for-profit organizations with their primary focus in the Township of Champlain. Each organization is allowed only one grant per year, though this may cover multiple events within that year. Applications must also demonstrate that other sources of financial and in-kind support have been explored, such as volunteer contributions or fundraising efforts. Only future events will be considered, with no retroactive funding available. Organizations that have previously received funding must fulfill reporting requirements to be considered again. Funding is guaranteed only for the fiscal year awarded and is not an assurance of ongoing support in future years.

Certain expenses are ineligible for grant funding, including management salaries, event management fees, travel, music and performance rights, and organizational operating costs. Similarly, some groups and activities are excluded, such as schools, athletic teams, religious or political organizations, private group trips, and events based outside Champlain. Events that are discriminatory, unsafe, or potentially damaging to public property are also ineligible.

By focusing on community-based events that align with Champlain’s values, the Special Event Grant program aims to encourage initiatives that strengthen social ties, celebrate local culture, and bring lasting economic and recreational benefits to the Township. This program highlights the Township’s commitment to supporting projects that reflect inclusivity, creativity, and community spirit.
