US Embassy seeking Proposals to implement “TechCamp” Workshop to empower Local Communities and promote Sustainable Livelihoods

The U.S. Embassy Ghana Public Diplomacy Section (PDS) of the U.S. Department of State is soliciting proposals to develop and implement a 2-3 day “TechCamp” workshop on the topic of illegal mining (galamsey) to take place in Accra or Takoradi, Ghana on or about August-September 2023.

Illegal mining is one of the most pressing threats to Ghana’s water supplies, agricultural products, and livelihoods.  Although it affects all Ghanaians, there is not widespread agreement on how to tackle the issue, including through the use of technology.  To address this need, U.S. Embassy Ghana intends to host a TechCamp that will bring together 50-60 stakeholders from different fields with American experts to develop tech-based solutions to the issue of illegal mining.  The grantee may propose a location within or outside of Accra.
