USV/SFF Program Grants to Strengthen and Empower Communities (United States)

Call for Proposals: Supporting Community-Led Solutions for Social Cohesion in Montenegro

Deadline: 24-Oct-2025

The U.S. Venture/Schmidt Family Foundation (USV/SFF) is offering grants to support organizations working to empower disadvantaged communities, enhance quality of life, and foster stronger, more connected communities.

With these grants, they aim to uplift organizations dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the communities  they serve in the following impact areas: Team member and shareholder engagement, Self-sufficiency, Community enrichment, Well-being of vulnerable populations.

To qualify for funding, organizations must be designated as public charities by the IRS, with preference given to those holding 501(c)(3) status. Applications must also demonstrate direct involvement or support from a U.S. Venture team member or shareholder through activities such as board membership, volunteering, or donor engagement.

The program prioritizes funding for organizations and projects that offer meaningful, long-term impact. Support is focused on initiatives that provide measurable, lasting benefits to a substantial number of people. Funded organizations must have a clear mission, a history of delivering effective outcomes, and strong organizational health, including financial stability and experienced leadership.

Applications are expected to show support from multiple funders. The Foundation typically does not act as the sole contributor and prefers collaborative investment in programs that demonstrate shared commitment and sustainability.

Requests that fall outside the scope of funding include grants to individuals or families, conference costs, medical procedures or research, and expenses incurred before funding approval. Political organizations, schools, government agencies, and religious institutions aiming to grow membership or requiring religious affiliation for services are also ineligible.

Additionally, the Foundation does not fund annual meetings, general operating costs, or capital campaigns for schools, religious institutions, sports facilities, or endowments. Only organizations operating within geographic areas where U.S. Venture facilities or team members are located are considered.
