The Office of UN Women in Haiti in close collaboration with the Ministry for the Status of Women and Women’s Rights (MCFDF) and the financial support of the OIF, launches a call for applications for the Academy of Female Political Leadership (ALPF).
This Political Leadership training program for women aspiring to various elective positions in the next elections is part of the project Reducing Violence Against Women in Electoral Processes funded by Canada.
The Academy of Women’s Political Leadership (ALPF) is a certified practical training program that includes mentoring activities and leads to a certificate.
Themes
This free training will be carried out intensively and will be spread over three months. The program will cover the following themes:
- general culture in politics (political ideas in Haiti; history of the struggle for women’s rights in Haiti; the legal framework of the Haitian electoral system);
- transformative leadership;
- communication (creation and analysis of electoral campaign message, SWOT analysis, communication plan, party strategy);
- electorate (definition and targeting of objectives, electorate profile, discussion of the technological gap, tactics of contact with the electorate;
- fundraising and financial planning;
- management of the electoral campaign.
The general objective of the Women’s Political Leadership Academy (ALPF) is to contribute to the consolidation of governance with a greater participation of women in the management of public affairs by strengthening the capacities of political leadership of women.
This Women’s Political Leadership Academy (ALPF implements one of the recommendations of the National Forum “Women, Peace and Political Participation” (Ann Chita Pale) which took place from April 3 to 4, 2019, on the occasion of the Commemoration of the National Day of the Haitian Women’s Movement.
The roadmap of this forum reaffirms the urgent need to promote respect for the constitutional quota of 30% of women in the management of public affairs and the importance of strengthening political capacities of women who aspire to run for office.
