The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) invites Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to participate in a training “Management of Citizen Engagement Projects at the Local Level”.
The UNDP project “Fostering Decentralization and Good Governance at the Local Level in Georgia” (DGG), funded by the Danish Government, supports decentralization and good governance at the local level through promoting nation-wide policy reform, strengthening institutional and human capacities of national and local authorities, improving local service delivery and empowering right holders including women, youth and ethnic minorities to make their voices heard, engage in the political process, and hold duty bearers accountable.
The project supports CSOs to develop and implement initiatives for strengthening citizen participation and social accountability.
The training will be held outside Tbilisi during 5-8 July 2022. The venue will be announced at a later stage.
UNDP actively works with the CSOs to strengthen their capacities of preparing and implementing effective projects on promoting citizen participation in decision-making and advancing social accountability at the local level.
Topics
The training will cover the following topics:
- Design thinking
- Design in practice;
- User experience;
- Co-design models;
- Experiments.
- The role and importance of local self-government;
- Local budget and its monitoring;
- Opportunities of cooperation between CSOs and local authorities;
- Mechanisms and practice of citizen participation in decision-making.
Outcome: Decentralization and good governance at the local level advanced, through promoting nationwide policy reform, strengthening institutional and human capacities of national and local authorities, improving local service delivery and enhancing citizen participation in local policy making.
Eligibility Criteria
- CSOs registered and/or operating in the following regions are eligible to participate in the training: Guria, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Kvemo Kartli.
- The applicant CSO shall have experience in implementing activities aimed at increasing citizen participation in decision-making.
- CSOs can nominate up to two representatives to participate in the training.
- The training will be conducted in Georgian and is free of charge. UNDP will cover the accommodation and catering expenses.
