Applications open for Danish Health Foundation (Denmark)

NOFO: Integrated Health Initiative (IHI) Activity - Afghanistan

Deadline: 28-Aug-2025

The Danish Health Foundation is now accepting grant applications to support projects in the social and health sectors. Applicants are encouraged to identify which focus area their project aligns with, such as physical environment for elderly and disabled people, social and health trials, or the dissemination of knowledge within these fields.

Applications must request at least DKK 50,000, with no upper limit, though the average grant typically ranges between DKK 350,000 and 400,000. Projects should aim to improve the health and life conditions of their target groups, clearly outlining how these outcomes will be documented. Originality and contribution to new knowledge or methods are highly valued, alongside strong professionalism and realistic implementation plans both financially and professionally.

Certain projects are not eligible for funding. These include those previously rejected, projects that started before the application deadline or more than a year after, and expenses incurred before the grant is awarded. Applications solely for congress participation, study trips, stays abroad, or continuing education such as master’s level programs will not be supported. Additionally, purely commercial events like concerts or theatre performances, operating funds for organizations, and activities without clear novelty are excluded.

The foundation supports a broad range of applicants including research institutions, NGOs, municipalities, regions, and government bodies. Both early-career and experienced researchers can apply, with prospective PhD students needing a CV or supervisor’s commitment letter. For research year projects by students, the supervisor must be the main applicant.

Applications must include a detailed budget outlining expected financing and expense items, attached as an appendix. A CV no longer than two A4 pages, including a brief list of relevant publications, must also be submitted to demonstrate the professional background of the applicant and any project participants.
