The Australian High Commission in Kiribati is seeking applications for its 2018-19 Direct Aid Program (DAP), which is a competitive small grants program administered by the Australian High Commission. It aims to support small-scale sustainable development projects and activities that involve local communities. Where possible, community members should participate in the design, development and implementation of the project.
The Direct Aid Program (DAP) is a community development program funded by the Australian Government. The program aims to support projects with a strong development focus that complement Australia’s broader aid program to Kiribati.
Priorities
In 2018-19, the Australian High Commission will priorities funding for projects that address:
- Community health
- Education
- Water and sanitation
- Environmental protection/climate change
- Gender equality
- Empowerment of women and girls
- Youth empowerment
- Disability empowerment and inclusion
- Sport for development
Funding Information
The funding is available for up to $20,000 per grant.
Eligibility Criteria
- Kiribati local community and non-government organisations (NGOs) are eligible to apply.
- DAP applications are assessed according to the following criteria:
- Strength of the proposal in addressing one or more of the priorities listed above
- Degree of benefit to the community
- Capacity of the community or NGO to deliver the project on time and on budget
- Sustainability of the project
