The United States Agency for International Development in Tanzania (USAID/Tanzania) is seeking applications for its grant programme entitled, “Tanzania Improved Nutrition for Better Life” to intensify and integrate nutrition support to targeted regions to improve the nutritional status of women of reproductive age, especially pregnant and lactating women, adolescents, and children under five years of age.
Undernutrition constrains social and economic development in Tanzania and contributes to child and maternal mortality, poor educational performance, intergenerational transfer of poverty and inequality, and low economic productivity of adults. The primary direct and indirect causes of maternal and child malnutrition in Tanzania are persistent food insecurity, poor maternal and child feeding practices, and suboptimal hygiene and sanitation.

Eligibility Criteria
- U.S. and non-US organizations may participate under this NOFO.
- USAID welcomes applications from organizations which have not previously received financial assistance from USAID.
- The Recipient must have established financial management, monitoring and evaluation processes, internal control systems, and policies and procedures that comply with established
- U.S. Government standards, laws, and regulations. The apparently successful applicant will be subject to a risk assessment by the Agreement Officer (AO).
- The Recipient must be a responsible entity and must have the necessary organizational, experience, accounting and operational controls, and technical skills – or ability to obtain them –in order to achieve the objectives of the program and comply with the terms and conditions of the award.
