The Maitland City Council is requesting applications for its Creative Arts Grant Program to support professional development opportunities for assist artists of all backgrounds, at all stages of their careers and across all artforms and practices.
This grant supports the delivery of arts opportunities and activities through a wide range of art forms such as: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural practice, Community arts and cultural development, Dance, Emerging and experimental arts, Literature, Multiart form, Music, Theatre and performing arts, Visual art, Screen and film, Digital arts.
This year-round grant program offers individuals up to $900 per application to support professional development or small project opportunities. Funding examples include creating new exhibitions, compositions, or artworks, initiating small community projects such as classes or groups, covering creative production costs like printing or studio use, supporting small-scale projects with practice development or marketing components, and enabling professional learning to enhance an artist’s chosen creative or heritage practice. Applicants must be individual artists residing in the Maitland Local Government Area, and projects must take place within six months of the application date.
Applications are assessed first by a Council officer for eligibility and then reviewed by an assessment panel, with recommendations presented to the Council for adoption. Applicants are required to provide high-quality supporting materials such as an artistic CV, a concise proposal outlining the use of funds and benefits to their practice, and evidence of previous works. For items valued at $500 or more, two quotes must be included. Successful applicants can receive a maximum of two grants per financial year, with funds to be used only for the approved purpose and spent by 30 June of the granting year.
A funding agreement must be signed before funds are released, and recipients must submit an acquittal form with photos within 30 days of completing the project. Individuals who fail to meet acquittal requirements will be ineligible for future funding. The deadline for applications is 31 August 2025.
