UNESCO Almaty invites eligible organizations in Central Asia to participate in a call for project proposals for the implementation of activities under the “Quality Education for Sustainable Development through ICT-based approaches in Central Asia: Kyrgyzstan (part 2)” project with support from Estonia.
This engagement focuses on improving access to quality education by promoting inter-active learning through ICTs and integrating Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in the education programme.
UNESCO developed ESD for 2030 roadmap (#ESDfor2030), which provides guidance for Member States and other stakeholders for the implementation of ESD for 2030.
Priority Areas
The roadmap proposes concrete ways to step up actions on five priority action areas on:
- policy,
- education environments,
- building capacities of educators,
- youth and
- local level action, stressing further ESD’s key role for the successful achievement of the 17 SDGs and the great individual and societal transformation required to address the urgent sustainability challenges.
Aiming to integrate ESD in the education curriculum in Kyrgyzstan through online modules, the Project promotes ICT-based learning and provides an opportunity for Kyrgyzstan to benefit from international experience of those countries, such as Estonia, which have successfully integrated ICTs in the education processes.
Deliverables
- Report on technical assistance provided to selected Contractors in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on development of a teacher training course on ESD based on the Kyrgyzstan’s experience.
- Supplementary methodological resources for teachers and students for online teaching and learning (in Kyrgyz and Russian);
- Assessment tools for ESD modules for online use only finalized (in Kyrgyz and Russian);
- Additional modules developed on topics not yet covered by existing materials in consultation with the MoES and its affiliated entities;
- ESD modules transferred from FramerSpace to the MoES owned digital platform;
- ESD teacher training course is integrated into teacher pre-service training programme(-s);
- Outcomes of the sub-regional exchanges of best ESD practices among Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan;
- Report on the best ESD practices in Central Asia award (the competition/award regulations, applications received, selection process and the results).
