Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects in Namibia

EU Support to Livestock Sector in Northern Communal Areas of Namibia

Deadline: 28-Feb-2026

The Embassy of Japan in Namibia is Currently Accepting Applications for Grassroots Human Security Projects is a form of financial assistance extended by the Japanese government to developing countries.

An important opportunity has opened for community‑based organisations in Namibia thanks to a funding scheme from the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Namibia. The call invites applications for the “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP)”, designed to support local development initiatives that respond to the immediate needs of vulnerable populations.

This grant scheme allows eligible organisations such as non‑governmental organisations, local governments, schools and medical institutions to apply for financial assistance for projects based in Namibia. Projects may cover areas such as education, health, agriculture or social welfare — sectors where urgent impact can be achieved by a focused intervention rather than large‑scale enterprise. The maximum funding offered under this scheme is the equivalent of up to 10 million Japanese Yen (roughly US$66,666) per project, which positions it as a practical financing option for small‑to‑moderate scale community work.

The guidelines indicate that organisations must take charge of their own projects (rather than through intermediaries) and ensure that the site of the project is in Namibia. Initiatives that focus on individual commercial gain, advanced research institutions or routine maintenance of equipment are not the focus of this grant. Instead, the emphasis is on tangible improvements that enhance human security at the grassroots level.

For organisations in Namibia seeking to make a difference in their community, this grant offers a meaningful channel of support from the Japanese government. With proper preparation, clear project plans and adherence to the eligibility standards, qualified groups have the opportunity to secure funding that can help catalyse development and improve lives in local settings.
