The Open Society Foundation is accepting applications from Hungarian civil society organizations for its Education Support program that aims to work towards community cohesion and a strengthened, more vocal grassroots educational civil society through the involvement of a wide range of education stakeholders.
The program seeks to support grassroots-level Hungarian civil society active in the field of education and social inclusion in:
- building open, equitable and cohesive societies;
- fighting discrimination in education and promoting equal opportunities for all;
- promoting the role of education in increasing wellbeing and civic participation;
- playing a mediating role between vulnerable groups and the mainstream society;
- mobilizing and uniting their communities around issues of education and social inclusion;
- articulating and getting across key messages to the wider public and policy makers
Funding Information
The budget under this call is USD 145,000. Individual applications can be up to USD 15,000.
Project requirements
Projects should:
- address education equity challenges of vulnerable pupils, students and youth, involving stakeholders responsible for shaping education policy and practice wherever possible;
- span no more than 12 months, starting no earlier than September 1, 2017;
- envision activities that build on the grassroots activism of local stakeholders and follow a clear implementation plan;
- partnerships with other organizations are strongly encouraged, but not compulsory.
Eligibility Criteria
Organizations registered in Hungary that cumulatively meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:
- formally registered grassroots organizations with a not-for-profit character and established legal status
- organizations carrying out work related to formal or nonformal education, social inclusion, or youth work
- organizations working at the community level and making use of volunteer support.
