Deadline: 30-Oct-2025

The World Food Programme (WFP) has launched a new initiative in Tajikistan aimed at empowering youth smallholder farmers through digital innovation, education, and agribusiness development.

Operating across key regions including Dushanbe, Viloyati Sughd, Viloyati Khatlon, Gorno-Badakhshan, and the Districts of Republican Subordination, the project seeks to strengthen food security and improve livelihoods by enhancing technical and vocational skills in agriculture.

With a total funding allocation of USD 642,000, the project will train 10,000 young smallholder farmers in modern agricultural practices, business management, and value chain development. A dedicated Technical Working Group (TWG) will oversee the design of specialized training modules and educational resources, ensuring that the content is both practical and context-specific.

To further promote innovation, a national demonstration site will be established to showcase cutting-edge digital and climate-smart agricultural technologies. This hands-on learning environment will be complemented by an e-learning platform, enabling broader access to digital training materials and resources, especially for those in remote areas.

Beyond training, the project also emphasizes advocacy and awareness-raising among youth and stakeholders about the potential of digital agriculture. Selected participants will receive targeted grant support to develop their own agribusiness ventures, while administrative assistance will be provided to streamline project implementation.

Through this comprehensive approach, WFP aims to foster greater digital inclusion, enhance market access, and build resilient, sustainable agricultural value chains. The initiative represents a significant step toward empowering young farmers in Tajikistan to become active drivers of rural transformation and food security.
