The Swedish Institute (SI) is currently accepting applications for the Academic collaboration programme in the Baltic Sea region.
The programme offers project funding of two types, both of which with a Swedish university as the main applicant to SI. While the primary target group is key personnel at higher educational institutions (incl. researchers, teachers and other staff), also other types of organizations and expertise may be involved, depending on the project idea.
Projects
- Seed Project
- A smaller project grant that can be applied for either to establish a new partnership, prepare for a larger project, or carry out a limited pilot project . The support will enable idea development, exchange of experience, identification of new partners, analysis of common challenges and opportunities, and preparation for major projects.
- Searchable amount, min. SEK 100,000 and max. 300,000 kr
- Project period: max. 12 months
- The Swedish higher education institution is the main applicant
- At least one partner university from another priority country than Sweden
- Collaborative Project
- A larger contribution, aimed at actors who already have a developed and concrete project idea, as well as partner universities in the program’s priority countries. Collaboration projects are suitable especially for already established partnerships, where they have worked together previously and have knowledge of each other’s challenges, opportunities and interests for international cooperation in the short and long term. The support should enable broader exchange of experience, idea development, analysis, staff training, testing activities and implementation.
- Searchable amount, min. SEK 500,000 and max. 1 000 000 kr
- Project period: max. 18 months
- The Swedish higher education institution is the main applicant
- At least two partner universities from two different priority countries except Sweden
Target Groups
The program is aimed at key personnel at higher education and research institutions, with target groups both in academic core business and among staff in support activities and management functions. Actors from other communities can also be involved.
Eligibility Criteria
The main applicant to SI must represent a Swedish university, but the application should be prepared jointly together in the partnership. The main applicant acts as project leader and is also the main contact for SI during the project duration.
Eligible Countries
- The programme focus is collaboration between universities in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Sweden and Ukraine. These are countries of priority. Other countries that may be involved are Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. These are considered as additional countries, which may be involved if it strengthens the partnership with important experiences and/or certain required capacities. Only one partner from the group additional countries per project is eligible for funding using the SI grant.
