Deadline: 31-Aug-2025

The Shell Albian Sands Environment Grant is now open for applications, offering targeted support for environmental initiatives across the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

This grant aims to empower nonprofit organizations with a passion for environmental stewardship and community impact.

Eligible projects must focus on key environmental themes, including education, renewable energy, energy conservation, climate change, and the conservation of land, habitat, or wildlife. Whether it’s a new initiative or an extension of an existing program, proposals should demonstrate a clear commitment to advancing environmental sustainability within the region.

The grant is administered through the Wood Buffalo Community Foundation (WBCF), and eligibility is limited to nonprofit organizations serving communities such as Fort McMurray, Anzac, Fort Chipewyan, Conklin, Fort McKay, and others in the municipality. Applicants must be registered charities or qualified donees under the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

The maximum available funding for this cycle is approximately $8,500. Funds may be used for detailed project or program-related expenditures, pilot projects, or seed funding initiatives. However, funding is not available for deficit coverage, political or religious activities, capital campaigns, or projects that primarily benefit individuals.

The Shell Albian Sands Environment Grant presents a valuable opportunity for local organizations to contribute meaningfully to environmental protection and education in the region. By supporting innovative and impactful initiatives, the program aims to foster long-term ecological sustainability and environmental awareness in Wood Buffalo communities.
