Deadline: 02-Nov-2025
The Species Recovery Programme has launched a new opportunity calling for ideas to support threatened species..
The call invites organizations to propose ambitious yet feasible projects that combine targeted conservation action and research to foster species recovery.
Funding requests must fall between £10,000 and £1.5 million, and costs should reflect good value, avoiding duplication with other funding sources. Ideas will be screened for eligibility, relevance to the Threatened Species Recovery Actions dataset, and value for money. Those shortlisted will be invited to develop full applications, complete with detailed budgets, project plans, and required permissions.
Eligible proposals should outline activities scheduled between mid-2026 and March 2029, with clearly defined beginnings and ends, and must stand independently within that timeframe. Organizations are encouraged to coordinate with others working on similar species or conservation challenges to strengthen the strategic impact of their ideas.
The programme welcomes submissions from environmental groups, charities, academic institutions, local authorities, landowners, and other non-profit bodies. While public bodies and government agencies may not lead applications, they may participate as partners lending support, technical input, or co-funding.
Submitting an idea does not guarantee funding, but offers the chance to advance the conservation of England’s most vulnerable species. For those aiming to make a measurable difference, this is an invitation to bring forward bold, evidence-based proposals to help reverse species decline and restore biodiversity across landscapes.
