The Fund for the Development of Indigenous Peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean (FILAC), through the Intercultural Indigenous University (UII); the Coordination of Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin (COICA), and Conservation International convene the indigenous youth of the Amazon to the course “Capacity Building in Territorial Defense and Sustainable Environmental Management for Indigenous Youth of the Amazon Basin”.

Objectives

To develop indigenous youth’s capacities in the Amazon Basin’s indigenous territories in aspects related to territorial defense and sustainable development management, regarding the conservation and sustainable management of the environment from a Good-Living approach.

Details

The course will be online, with asynchronous self-study activities and synchronous activities to be implemented three times a week, with each session lasting four hours. Both synchronous sessions and asynchronous self-study sessions are mandatory. The learning modules and the platform with the asynchronous activities will be in three language versions: Spanish, English, and Portuguese.

Youth, indigenous leaders, professionals, and non-professionals from the Amazon Basin linked to Amazonian indigenous organizations and community initiatives, that are highly motivated to defend their territory and committed to replicating the lessons learned with their communities and organizations.
