The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is with Malagasy Government (MG) to provide for youth initiatives as part of the implementation of the MCIF project (Climate Investment Facility in Madagascar) component 2: Innovative projects and start-ups in the field of climate change.
Objectives
- The overall objective is to improve the capacities of adaptation to the impacts of climate change of the fishing communities of the rural Communes of Tanandava Sud and Sampona of the District of Amboasary for the Anôsy Region and of the seven fokontany in Tranovaho, District of Beloha, Region Androy through technical and organizational support for fishing communities in the use and management of fishing equipment.
Specific Objectives
The intervention of the selected organization aims to:
- Build the capacities of fishermen’s associations on the use, handling and maintenance of new equipment: fiberglass canoes and outboard motors.
- Strengthen the capacities of associations in terms of equitable and sustainable management of these materials: use of a simplified management tool, operating account and business plan.
Activities
To achieve these results, the activities to be carried out are as follows (not exhaustive):
- Train fishermen’s associations on the use (including navigation at sea), handling and maintenance of equipment acquired: fiberglass canoe and outboard motors;
- Develop tools that are easy to use by these associations for the management of these materials in order to ensure equitable and sustainable management at their level with the members;
- Train fishermen’s associations on the efficient management of equipment;
- Provide the necessary tools for training: among others fuels (to be offered in the technical and financial offers the quantity necessary for training), simplified technical sheets for the understanding of beneficiaries, replacing the user manual supplied with the materials.;
- Support and monitor the associations during the intervention in order to provide advice and support that is still necessary for the associations;
- Evaluate the performance of associations throughout the duration of the intervention in order to rectify, strengthen and continue support for associations.
Expected Results
The following results will be observed at the end of 2.5 months of intervention by the selected organism.
- Fishermen’s associations in Tanandava, Sampona and Tranovaho are able to use, handle and maintain fiberglass canoes and outboard motors;
- The associations concerned have simplified tools to ensure the management of materials, and have the necessary capacity to ensure the efficient, sustainable and autonomous management of materials;
- Post-training monitoring and evaluations are carried out.
Applications Procedure
A technical proposal which will include:
- A technical sheet of the organization with the administrative documents in order
- A summary of similar achievements of the organization;
- An explanatory note on understanding the TORs;
- Presentation of the methodological approach, the organization of the planned mission and the mission execution schedule.
