Ontario’s Wetlands Conservation Partner Program – Canada

Funding Opportunity: Strengthening Health, Education & Women’s Rights

Deadline: 08-Oct-2025

The Ontario’s Wetlands Conservation Partner Program, outlined on the provincial website, offers a significant funding opportunity for organizations committed to conserving, restoring, and enhancing wetlands across the province.

The program is designed to build strong partnerships among landowners, non-profits, Indigenous communities, municipalities, and other stakeholders to improve wetland health and function, and to secure long-term ecological benefits.

For the 2025 round of funding, approximately $9.6 million is available over two fiscal years, 2025–2026 and 2026–2027. Applicants may apply for a minimum of $200,000 in WCPP funding, making this one of the province’s most substantial conservation investments aimed at wetlands. This level of support allows for impactful projects that can address large-scale wetland restoration, enhancement, or protection work while engaging local communities and Indigenous knowledge holders.

Projects supported under this program may include restoring degraded wetlands, improving water quality, increasing native biodiversity, and enhancing natural flood buffering. Because wetlands are vital for carbon storage, water filtration, and wildlife habitat, the program seeks applicants capable of delivering measurable ecological outcomes and building long-term resilience in the face of climate change and other environmental pressures.

Applicants must demonstrate the capacity to plan, implement, and monitor projects effectively while ensuring they can sustain the benefits beyond the initial funding period. The program also prioritizes community involvement, cross-sector collaboration, and the integration of traditional ecological knowledge to ensure the conservation work is culturally and environmentally meaningful.

This round of the Wetlands Conservation Partner Program offers a major opportunity for conservation-focused groups to expand their efforts, protect vital habitats, and help ensure Ontario’s wetlands continue to support biodiversity, water quality, and climate resilience for future generations.
