Community Supervision Leadership Learning Lab Training (US)

Notice of Funding Opportunity: Small Grants Competition in Peru

Deadline: 6-Jun-23

The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) is seeking applications for the Community Supervision Leadership Learning Lab Training Program that recognizes the need to provide community supervision leadership with training that enhances skills to improve an agency’s ability to deliver evidence-based practices intended to support behavior change among supervised individuals.

The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) recognizes the need to provide community supervision leadership with training that enhances skills to improve an agency’s ability to deliver evidence-based practices intended to support behavior change among supervised individuals.

Therefore, NIC collaborated with an independent contractor to review, modify, and redesign its Probation and Parole Executive Orientation curriculum; the result was the creation of a virtual Community Supervision Leadership Learning Lab that includes the most up-to-date material needed to assist community corrections leaders in probation and parole agencies in effectively implementing evidence-based interventions.

The awardee will deliver the 9-month Community Supervision Leadership Learning Lab training, which uses a combination of virtual connections, including virtual instructor-led trainings, self-paced and independent learning, and leadership coaching. The 9-month long training is in the format of virtual instructor-led training (VILT) and includes 6 months of coaching to help participants develop a capstone project. The capstone project is designed to help participants identify, develop, and implement a new organizational change strategy within their agency and concludes with an in-person capstone project presentation that provides participants with a robust opportunity to grow their skills as leaders. To enhance the virtual learning experience, a Web-based learning environment is also available for participants to access training materials to engage in self-paced learning between virtual instructor-led training sessions.

Goals: Deliver the Community Supervision Leadership Learning Lab training curriculum to three training sites selected through an application process approved by NIC.
