Deadline: 02-Aug-21
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is inviting you to submit Grant Ideas under the Call for Grant Ideas Round II announced by COBERM (Confidence Building Early Response Mechanism) and the UK in support of Sustainable Peace (a complementary initiative to COBERM).
The overall objective of the Call is to support ideas that propose increased and sustainable cooperation that will deliver a demonstrable positive impact on the building of trust between conflict-affected societies and facilitate the conditions necessary to peace and reconciliation.
The purpose of this call is to identify grant ideas with the objectives of i) building confidence and trust between societies affected by conflict and ii) facilitating and enabling conditions necessary to peace and reconciliation through increased and sustainable cooperation among civil society actors. Initiatives should aim to bring about a measurable and visible impact against these objectives through one or more of the following:
- Initiatives that demonstrate the potential to strengthen long-term cooperation prospects and relationships and communication between experts, professionals, organizations, and local communities affected by conflict;
- Initiatives that propose new approaches to confidence building and/or addressing the challenges of communities and groups particularly affected by the conflict.
- Initiatives envisaging intra-society discussions on confidence building initiatives, withstanding fake news and disinformation, preventing hate speech, and changing stereotypes within the society, which positively shape the attitudes and perceptions, broaden the base for peacebuilding and strengthen local ownership of peace initiatives.
- Initiatives with a strong analytical and/or academic research component that can contribute to the evidence base for strengthening confidence building and engagement in, and delivery of, peacebuilding initiatives.
Thematic areas may include (but are not limited to): health, environment, education, culture, facilitating technology-enabled services, overcoming gender barriers and promoting gender equality, supporting the delivery of objectives under UNSCR 1325′ (Women, Peace and Security) and UNSCR 2250 (Youth, Peace and Security), supporting and empowering vulnerable groups including people with disabilities, research and analysis. Thematic priorities of the complementary initiative to COBERM are flexible as long as the grant idea demonstrates strong confidence building potential and meets the criteria of this call.
All projects should demonstrate gender and youth-lensed approach and promote gender equality and youth inclusion.
