Fellowship applications are open for Asia Pacific’s largest international Internet technologies and operations conference, (Asia Pacific Regional Internet Conference on Operational Technologies) APRICOT 2023, being held from 20 February to 2 March 2023 in Manila, Philippines.
Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) provides fellowships—financial support and guidance—to members of the Asia Pacific Internet community in the APNIC service region’s Developing, Least Developed Country (LDC) or Small Island Development State (SIDS) economies to participate in an online, structured fellowship program, and to attend APNIC conferences where they can engage and learn from recognised international experts.
The APNIC fellowship program places special emphasis on gender and geographical diversity and promotes the full participation and involvement of women from the Internet community at the conferences and in the APNIC activities.
Fellowships are available in three categories: professional, youth and returning.
APNIC fellowships bring diverse stakeholder groups together to discuss technical and Internet governance matters and number resource policies.
Aims
APNIC’s fellowship program aims to:
- Foster greater understanding of, and participation in, the APNIC policy development process (PDP).
- Provide an opportunity for colleagues to network with peers in the industry with similar technical interests.
- Identify and foster the professional development of members of the Asia Pacific Internet community from emerging and developing economies.
- Demonstrate APNIC’s commitment to capacity building.
Fellowship Award Package
- 100% of the registration fees for either the workshop week or conference week.
- 100% of the accommodation costs (up to six nights for the workshops and up to five nights for the conference) at the APRICOT Fellows hotel.
- A contribution towards airfare and per diem.
Eligibility Criteria
- APRICOT fellowships give individuals from developing economies in the Asia Pacific region the opportunity to learn from regional and international experts, network with other Internet professionals, gain new industry insights, and engage in industry discussions.
- Applicants need to be actively involved in Internet development in any of the following capacities:
- Network engineering, network operations, and network design.
- Internet systems engineering and systems operations.
- Education, training, research and academia.
- Applicants for the APRICOT Fellowship need to:
- Demonstrate a track record in sharing what is learned with colleagues and peers.
- Describe their local Internet community involvement in a technical or operational capacity.
- Demonstrate financial hardship that would make participation in APRICOT otherwise impossible.
Note: Applicants who have been prior APRICOT Fellowship or APNIC Conference Fellowship recipients within the last ten years will not normally be considered eligible for an APRICOT 2023 Fellowship.
